How Did Madara Get Rinnegan?
Madara fought Hashirama at the Final Valley for the last time. He used Susano covered Kurama, had his eternal Mangekyu Sharingan. But he still got defeated by Hashirama and his sage Jutsu and wood style. After fighting for days, Madara and Hashirama both got exhausted. And at the final encounter, they both charge towards each other.
As Madara slashed him with his weapon, Hashirama fell to the ground (water). Believing he defeated his arch-enemy, Madara told Hashirama that he is the one still standing, unlike the last time they fought. However, what he didn’t realize is that it was a wood-style clone, not real Hashirama.
As soon as the 1st Hokage stabs his sword on Madara’s back, Madara came to realize the truth. Moreover, he couldn’t believe that his only friend would actually kill him. After saying his last words, Madara fell down and died.
This was supposed to end right there. However, Madara used Izanami, which activated after a certain time of his death. And by using that Jutsu, he came back to life and went to a hideout.
And at the final moment of the fight against the first Hokage, he managed to bite a small portion of his flesh. He later then placed that flesh inside his body and waited to awake Rinnegan.
But it took a long time. Prior to his death, he awakened the Rinnegan. Since he was very old at that time, he couldn’t fulfill his plans. So, he gave his Rinnegan to a Senju descendant named Nagato Uzumaki.
How Did Madara Get the Rinnegan in the War?
In the 4th Great Ninja War, Madara got one of his Rinnegan from Zetsu. Which Obito took back from Nagato’s dead body. As Obito implanted one of the Rinnegan on his left eye, the other one was reserved for Madara. After Madara came back to life by Rinne rebirth Jutsu, Zetsu simply delivered the other Rinnegan to Madara.
As Obito had left Rinnegan, Madara went to him after escaping from Naruto and Sasuke’s sealing Jutsu. He took Kakashi’s Saringan and used Kamui to reach Obito. then he took his other Rinnegan from him.
Why Did Madara Get Both Rinnegan?

Why Did Madara’s Rinnegan Disappear?
After Madara came back to life, by using Rinnerebirth, his Rinnegan disappeared. It happened for 2 reasons.
- Madara’s original Rinnegan eyes were in Zetsu and Obito’s possession. So, when he came back to life, he had literally no eyes.
- As Edo Tensei, Madara’s previous Rinnegan eyes were basically modified and amped by Kabuto. As soon as he was brought back to life, those eyes disappeared.
How Did Madara Implant the Rinnegan in Nagato?
As Madara awakened his Rinnegan at an old age, it was impossible for him to follow his plan at that age. That’s why he implanted his Rinnegan in Nagato. But it was impossible for him to do that himself.
So, he let Zetsu do the work for him. Since Nagato was an Uzumaki and a Senju descendant, he was a suitable candidate for Madara’s Rinnegan.
Why Did Madara Give Nagato the Rinnegan?
Madara was very old at that stage. So, he needed a successor, whom he can give his Rinnegan and manipulate to perform the Rinnerebirth Jutsu.
